Postcard from Bismarck

Writer Barbara Kiviat visited Bismarck-Mandan mid-June to do a TIME magazine “Postcard” story on the strength of the North Dakota economy. While here, she visited with local officials, businesses, and people on the street. She touches on Bismarck’s low unemployment, the state’s budget surplus, the growth of the energy industry, and strong banks. The resulting one-page story appears in the issue of TIME magazine that hit newsstands and the Internet June 26th.
