Bismarck Airport continues to set records - The Bismarck Airport continues to set new records.  Not only did June 2012 total enplanements increase 31.6% over June 2011, but it also had more passenger boardings in the month of June than ever before.  The Airport staff reported that passenger boardings for June 2012 were 21,140 versus 16,055 in June of 2011.  For the complete release, please click HERE.

CNBC’s America’s Top States for Business ranking puts North Dakota at #5 The 2012 ranking by CNBC for America’s Top States for Business has North Dakota in the #5 spot, behind Texas, Utah, Virginia and North Carolina. CNBC looks at ten areas to compile the rankings.  North Dakota landed in the top ten in four of these categories:  #4 in Business Friendliness; $2 in Economy; #5 in Quality of Life; and #10 in Workforce.  To view the rankings and individual categories, click HERE.

Mandan Growth Fund Committee meets - The Mandan Growth Fund Committee met last week to consider: a new/expanding business property tax exemption application for Walmart, storefront improvement applications for Railway Credit Union and Commercial Properties and a retail incentive application for Destiny Screen Printing & Embroidery. All four applications were recommended for approval by the Growth Fund Committee and will be forwarded on to the Mandan City Commission for final consideration

North Dakota Oil Productions surpasses 638,000 barrels per day  In May 2012 North Dakota continued setting oil production records as the average daily production increase from 608,000 barrels per day in April to 639,000 barrels per day or almost 20 million barrels per month according to the numbers recently published by the Bismarck Tribune. Sanford to invest $200M in Bismarck, western North Dakota Medcenter One and Sanford Health announced plans for Sanford to invest $200 million over the next ten years to expand services in Bismarck-Mandan and western North Dakota. Click HERE to read last Friday’s Bismarck Tribune article.

Oil activity in ND - The number of active drilling rigs in North Dakota on Thursday was 213.  The Wall Street Journal crude oil price for Thursday was $86.08. 

 

The top four oil producing states are:

 

1.     Texas – 1,755,000 barrels per day (March 2012) 

2.     North Dakota – 639,000 barrels per day (May 2012)

3.     Alaska – 552,384 barrels per day (April 2012)

4.     California – 538,000 barrels per day (March 2012)
