A Message from the Mayor
Ken LaMont, Mandan |
As Mayor of the wonderful city of Bismarck, I invite you to explore the wealth that we have to offer. We are a growing community, and much of our success derives from a network of contributors.
Bismarck takes great pride in the importance of sound economic development, and the impact it creates toward business. With Bismarck being the capital city and the center of state government in North Dakota, thousands of people gather to enhance the excellence of business statewide.
Our cultural and social attractions, restaurants and shopping areas that serve our community are extremely enjoyable.
Bismarck is a city of many values and I invite you to explore those values that we are so proud of!

Mandan is a city rich in ‘Old West” history which includes deep roots of Native American influence as well as some of the more colorful characters in western history.
Ever since the railroad crossed the Missouri, Mandan has been receptive to sound economic development practices. Our commitment has been to be receptive to companies, entrepreneurs, healthcare and educational opportunities that assist Mandan in maintaining its own unique, vibrant personality.
Mandan is city of people with pride in their work ethic and family values. We invite you to come and take a look. The future is bright for us with the citizens of our community ready and willing to share available opportunities.

Been around the United States and the world and looking for an opportunity to move home? The BMDA is seeking individuals with North Dakota roots who are interested in acting as Ambassadors for the Bismarck-Mandan region. As we work to diversify the local economy through the attraction, retention and expansion of quality jobs, we could use your help. In conjunction with the State of North Dakota, we are looking to create a network throughout the United States to spread information about the positive things that are going on in the Bismarck-Mandan region. Additionally, we are looking for business leads of potential companies that are looking for the right business friendly community in which to expand or locate a facility. The Bismarck-Mandan region is growing. The population of the Bismarck-Mandan MSA (which includes all of Burleigh and Morton) grew from 83,831 in 1990 to 94,719 in 2000. That is a growth rate of 13%, and makes the Bismarck-Mandan MSA one of only two MSA’s in North Dakota that had double-digit population growth. During the same period the workforce grew by over 10,000 new employees, while maintaining an unemployment rate that consistently out performed both the state and national rates.
Growth in Bismarck-Mandan continues. The 2007 population estimate for the MSA was 103,242 and most feel that is a modest estimate. The Bismarck-Mandan Development Association is seeking to help existing businesses by identifying people who would be interested in employment or business opportunities in Bismarck, Mandan, Burleigh, or Morton County. Click on the "sign up form" on the main menu to tell us what might attract you back to the region, and we'll be happy to pass along any opportunities which might appeal to you. If you would like to see what others think about living and working in the region, check out their testimonials.
