North Dakota ranked 49th of 50 states in cost of doing business.

As measured by the Milken Institure, North Dakota's costs of doing business were found to be 23% lower than the national average, with only state being lower. The Index measures wage costs, electricity costs and real estate costs for industrial and office space. Each state is measured on the five individual categories, and those weighted scores are compiled to make the overall index.+
